Mia Ame Yee Litzenberg is a storytelling adventurer at heart and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in Environmental Journalism with a minor in Environmental Studies and Sustainability from Michigan State University in December 2025.
She continues to stay curious and build diverse storytelling experience as she embarks on a journey of showing up authentically through social media content creation, where she documents and sparks conversations on social issues and personal growth. She was recently accepted into a content creation mastermind program that empowers women from around the world to share their stories.
As a Yale Conservation Scholar in 2025, she created an original Community Journalism Framework to support community members in sharing their environmental justice stories in partnership with her host organization, the Black Appalachian Coalition (BLAC). She co-led the BLAC Lead Campaign cohort through designing and teaching a 9-week curriculum and facilitated an interactive hybrid workshop at the BLAC Storytelling and Policy Summit. She wrapped up her experience presenting on a panel for the virtual Yale Conservation Scholars - Early Leadership Initiative Capstone Symposium.
Interning as an environmental journalist for Detroit PBS Great Lakes Now in 2024, she published stories amplifying marginalized voices fighting for solutions to a wide array of environmental justice issues in communities across the Great Lakes region. In her time as an environmental journalism student at Michigan State University, Mia published stories focusing on Indigenous communities, water challenges, and more for the news outlets Spartan Newsroom and Great Lakes Echo.
Mia always knew she wanted to study abroad and spent a semester in Spain. She began traveling on her own at 15 years old and has been to 20 countries across five continents.
