There are many ways to contribute to the work of Environmental Transformation and Sustainability—from supporting our research and programs to helping us document environmental leaders, histories, and communities.
Support ETS
Your contribution helps advance ETS research, student opportunities, convenings, and public-facing resources.
When making a gift through Yale’s giving portal, locate the Designation field and search for our full legacy name:
Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Sustainability Initiative – JEDSI
Although we are transitioning to ETS, please designate gifts under the full JEDSI name for now to ensure they support our work.
Recommend an Environmental Catalyst
Help us identify environmental professionals, leaders, scholars, and practitioners who may be considered for inclusion in the Environmental Catalysts Database.
Recommendations should include:
- Full name
- Email address or other contact information
- Current institutional or organizational affiliation
- Current position or title
- A website, biography, or professional profile, if available
Please email recommendations to ets@yale.edu. Submission of a name does not guarantee inclusion in the database.
Become a Research Assistant
ETS hires research assistants to support community-engaged research on environmental justice, environmental health, and sustainability. Research areas may include food access, toxic release inventories, environmental grantmaking, environmental catalysts, and survey research.
Positions are typically posted in the Yale Student Jobs portal each fall, with additional opportunities occasionally available during the spring. These positions are open only to current Yale master’s and doctoral students.
Applicants with experience in one or more of the following areas are strongly preferred:
- ArcGIS, mapping, and spatial analysis
- SPSS, R, or other statistical analysis software
- Quantitative and qualitative research methods
- Data collection, cleaning, organization, and coding
- Survey data management and analysis
- Literature reviews and background research
- Academic or scientific writing, particularly writing for publication
- Preparing manuscripts, reports, tables, figures, and other research products
- Database research and professional profile writing
Applicants should be motivated, detail-oriented, and prepared to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week. Specific responsibilities and required qualifications will vary by position.
Participate in ETS Research
As the Legacy Data Hub and Environmental Justice Case Studies continue to grow, opportunities may become available for students, researchers, community partners, and other collaborators to contribute to this work.
Potential opportunities may include research assistance, data collection, archival research, case-study development, and submitting relevant information or resources. We will announce additional details and calls for participation here as they become available.
